Progress vs. Perfection

Here’s something to think about:

Making progress means you’re moving forward, although you might not have reached your goal yet, you are on your way. Progress is something to be recognized and celebrated. Progress is the small victory that keep us going; giving us vision of the finish line! Whereas perfection, gives us the false sense that in order to be happy and achieving our goals, we have to be perfect. So often, we get caught up in the lie that perfection is what matters. We all have been there before… Rather than seeing where we are, we see where we are not. We focus on our lack and on the things we want to change. Maybe for you it’s your fitness goals, the number on the scale or new years resolutions you can’t seem to stick with. But I encourage you that whatever it may be, switch your perspective to focus on progress and not perfection. Give yourself credit for the steps you’ve taken thus far and celebrate YOU throughout the journey!

One of my goals is to be able to do a pull up on my own. I’m not quite there yet, but today I’m celebrating progress in the fact that I can do assisted pull ups with a band! I’ve been able to decrease my assistance and that, my friends, means I’m getting stronger.

What areas of your life have you seen progress being made? I encourage you to celebrate your progress in any goal you have, pat yourself on the back and acknowledge how far you’ve come. Don’t be so hard on yourself… I’m cheering you on!
